You want to make the best decision possible, which is the one that will bring you the highest amount of income.

However, you also need to consider the insurance coverage you will be offered while working under the service of your choice. Requirements for Uber and Uber Eats Drivers

As a rideshare driver for Uber, you are expected to provide safe traveling services to riders. Employment for this service is only available for people with cars that meet Uber’s driver and vehicle requirements. As a food delivery driver for Uber Eats, you will be picking up and delivering food to customers. Employment for this service is available for drivers, bicyclists, and scooter riders. It is also important to note that, essentially, if you are qualified to be an Uber rideshare driver, you may also qualify to be an Uber Eats food delivery driver. However, the opposite is not true. Being qualified to be an Uber Eats delivery driver does not automatically mean that you are eligible to become an Uber driver, too.

The following is a list of requirements that are expected to be met if a person is interested in becoming a rideshare driver or a food delivery driver in Los Angeles.

Working for Uber and Uber Eats

It is important to note that you can take requests from Uber and Uber Eats at the same time. Qualified drivers can drop off a passenger and head over to a restaurant right after to pick up an Uber Eats order. Performing both duties can increase your potential earnings. If you are not interested in working for these services simultaneously, you are given the option to disable either service to focus more on working for one of them instead.

Those who do not meet the age requirements for Uber and Uber Eats will not be offered the option of working for both services at the same time. For example, a 19 year old food delivery driver who works under Uber Eats is not eligible to also work as a rideshare driver for Uber. This is due to the fact that Uber’s age requirement for rideshare drivers is 21 years old or older.

Potential Income

For Uber and Uber Eats services, you are paid at a rate per ride or per delivery, not by hour. A customer of either service is charged a fee to cover the costs of the ride or the food and are given an option to leave a tip.

While Uber Eats provides much more clear-cut rates for their delivery drivers, Uber’s driver rates are not so clear, as a number of factors affect the pay a driver would receive from a trip. It is reported  that Uber may only acquire a 25 percent cut from the earnings of their drivers, however, there have been disputes regarding the accuracy of that percentage.
