According to the Daily Bulletin, a 21-year-old college student is in critical condition after being involved in an Uber accident in Redondo Beach on Friday, December 22, 2017. The Uber accident occurred around 2:10 a.m. when a suspected drunken driver slammed into her Uber vehicle at the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Aviation Way.
The victim, identified as Ashley Elizabeth Murray, was heading home with her friend Blake when the suspected DUI driver ran a red light causing the Uber accident. Ms. Murray sustained serious brain injuries and has had multiple surgeries since the Uber accident. According to her loved ones, Ms. Murray has not regained consciousness yet.
Ms. Murray’s friend Blake was also seriously hurt in the Uber accident and has remained hospitalized since the Uber crash. He is expected to be released from the hospital soon. The suspected DUI driver, identified as Jossy Patrick Avalos, was charged with multiple felony counts. Ms. Murray’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help with the extensive medical bills as she remains in the Intensive Care Unit.
