Snoop Dogg (Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr.) and one of his associates, Bishop Don “Magic” Juan (Donald Campbell), have both been named in a lawsuit that accuses the pair of back to back instances of sexual assault and battery. The woman making these charges has chosen to stay anonymous, identifying only as “Jane Doe” and “the Plaintiff.”
These incidents occured after she had attended a Snoop Dogg concert on May 29, 2013. She had been working as an actor, model, and dancer in California at the time of the assaults. The concert is noted to have taken place at Club Heat Ultra Lounge in Anaheim.
Apparently, she is a former backup dancer of the rapper. The two alleged instances occurred in Don Juan’s California home and in Snoop Dogg’s studio, respectively. The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday. Prior to the filing, the lawsuit notes an unsuccessful private mediation that took place Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
The suit was filed in federal court by the plaintiff’s attorney, Matt Finkelberg of the Derek Smith Law Group, immediately after these talks failed.
Why Jane Doe had been targeted is unknown, but the filed lawsuit clearly indicates that force, surprise, and abuse of power had been used to the advantages of Snoop Dogg and his associate. The anonymous woman claims she cooperated in hopes of gaining career advancement, as well as in fear that she would be harmed physically and career-wise, if she did not comply.
After the concert, according to Yahoo, Doe and one of her friends had attended Snoop Dogg’s show together and then entered the VIP room at the club. While here, they ran into Campbell who invited the pair back to the rapper’s studio. Doe and her friend both agreed.
While Doe’s friend left the club around midnight, Campbell eventually offered her a ride “home or I can take you back to my place with me.”
Doe had requested to go home, but fell asleep in the car and was allegedly taken to the associate’s home against her will. The following morning, at approximately 4 a.m, she was woken up to Campbell “remov[ing] his penis from his pants and forc[ing] his penis into her mouth,” as noted by The Guardian.
After this, Campbell told Doe to “put this dress on” and to come to the taping of “Snoop Dogg’s Double G News Network.” Apparently, he wanted to see if the rapper would feature her as the weather girl. The lawsuit indicates that Doe complied in hopes of career advancement.
At the studio, Doe allegedly went to the bathroom with a stomach ache, when Broadus unexpectedly opened the door while “Plaintiff was defecating on the toilet,” then shut the door behind him. At this point, Broadus allegedly took his penis out from his pants and told her to “put it in your mouth.”
Rolling Stone indicates that Broadus had allegedly grabbed her shoulder and forced his penis into her mouth.
NBC News reports that “due to his dominance, his position of power over her, including his ability to hire and fire her and ensure that she would never be hired in his industry again,” she had complied to his request.
Dissatisfied after a few minutes, he allegedly masturbated and “ejaculated on plaintiff’s upper chest and lower neck.” Regardless of this, she didn’t get the television job because she “refused to willingly and enthusiastically give oral sex.”
After this alleged interaction with Broadus, Doe was spotted by Campbell and asked to take a picture with the rapper and then escorted out of the studio.
Doe claims she didn’t immediately report the alleged assault for fear of loss of job security, noting that she has worked for companies owned by or associated with Snoop Dogg over the last several years.
According to the filing, she obtained a right to sue from the Department of Fair Employment and Housing on 20 December 2021, agreeing to attempt to resolve the situation through the previously mentioned private mediation that took place on February 8.
Sources representing the rapper indicate that the woman is only filing the suit because of Broadus’ upcoming halftime performance at the Super Bowl. According to TMZ, she was demanding just under $10 million from Broadus and Campbell.
Apparently, she has suffered from a number of issues that arose after these events, including anxiety and depression, post-traumatic stress, nightmares and sleep disorders, headaches, and more. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, the amount to be decided at the requested trial by jury.
The rapper previously posted on Instagram, writing “Gold digger season is here…” He has since deleted the post, which attorney Matt Finkleberg claims was “obviously threatening” against his plaintiff.
