As Ryan Newman was on the last lap of the Daytona 500, he got into a horrifying accident. This incident took place on Monday, February 17th.
Safety crews rushed to get Newman out of the car, as it was covered in flames, to get him to safety. He was later transported to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach to receive medical care and treatment. According to NASCAR, his condition was indicated as a “serious” injury but not a life-threatening one. Newman was released from the hospital two days later.
The racecar driver took to social media to post photos of him surrounded by his two daughters to reassure fans that he is doing well. Newman’s team has also posted photos of him leaving the hospital and wrote an appreciation caption to the staff members for taking good care of him.
“ We owe a debt of gratitude to many people for what transpired over the last few days but a special thanks to the incredible care and attention from the staff at Halifax Health Medical Center. ”
