Sacramento police officer, Benjamin Gray, has been placed on administrative leave since January 17, 2022. Folsom police claim that this is because a number of “allegations that adult female victims were video recorded during intimate settings without their knowledge,” have been presented to law enforcement.
Sacramento Police Department has released a statement, claiming that on January 16, 2022, the Folsom Police Department told Sacramento PD that a criminal complaint was being pursued. The complaint had to do with Sacramento PD’s Officer Benjamin Gray and his conduct.
According to the report, Gray was not on duty at the time of the notification.
Before the former-officer’s next scheduled workday, Gray was placed on administrative leave and had his peace officer powers removed.
According to KCRA, images of Gray’s potential victims have been found during the investigation, and Gray will remain on leave at least as long as the criminal investigations are in action.
Parallel to Folsom Police Department’s criminal investigation, the Sacramento Police Department’s internal affairs division is conducting an administrative investigation. This will be subject to independent review by the City of Sacramento’s Office of Public Safety Accountability.
ABC10 released its own report on the situation, alongside a video with advice on how to stay safe. The video contains reminders to put away valuables, make sure security cameras are functioning correctly, and to lock all doors to homes and vehicles.
There is also a Facebook post from Folsom Police, containing an image of Gray. Apparently, this is being done to facilitate and aid actions from potential victims or witnesses to the ex-officer’s harmful actions.
No other details have been released regarding these investigations, largely because of the ongoing investigation’s sensitive nature.
A number of women have come forward, but Folsom police are requesting that anyone involved with Gray in the last three years come forward and contact detectives. This can be done at (916)461-6478 or [email protected] Additionally, the Folsom Police Department can be reached at (916)355-7230.
