Yorba Linda Plane Crash: Two People Killed After Plane Crashed Into House That Left Two Other People Injured Near Canyon Drive And Crestknoll Drive

YORBA LINDA, CALIFORNIA (February 3, 2019) – Two people have died and two people were injured following a plane crash that caused a small fire by Canyon Drive and Crestknoll Drive.

The twin-engine Cessna 414A crashed into a house after taking off from the Fullerton Municipal Airport. Firefighters rushed to the scene of the plane crash around 2:00 p.m. and battled two fires that started.

It remains unclear if the two people that were injured were living in the house. Videos of the aftermath of the accident shows one house with a massive hole in the roof.

Debris from the fallen aircraft was scattered across multiple roofs. The identities of the victims remains unknown at this time.

Liability In Plane Crashes

According to Live Science, private planes can be nearly as deadly as cars. Consider, for example, that in 2013 there were 1,297 general aviation accidents that resulted in some 387 fatalities. By contrast, two people died in commercial plane crashes. There are a number of reasons for this discrepancy. Smaller aircraft tend to lack the safety redundancies that larger commercial planes have such as dual pilots and dual engines. But the main source of the problem comes down to pilot error.

In particular, take off and landing are among the two most dangerous periods for a flight. A pilot might overshoot the runway or forget to perform crucial safety checks. Planes running out of fuel mid-flight is actually a lot more common than many people think. The family of a victim that dies in a plane crash may be able to file a claim under California’s Code of Civil Procedure 377.60. Other victims may also be entitled to damages including lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. An aviation accident attorney can investigate your case free of charge and let you know what your options are.
