Woman struck and killed in Arizona Uber self-driving accident

According to the Huffington Post, a self-driving Uber struck killed 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg in a fatal Uber accident in Tempe, Arizona on Sunday, March 18, 2018.

The fatal Uber accident was reported around 10 p.m., when Herzberg was walking her bicycle while crossing the street and was struck by the Uber SUV. The Uber vehicle did have a driver at the wheel, but the Uber vehicle was in autonomous mode.

The Uber accident victim, Herzberg, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where she died.

The Uber SUV had a damaged hood and fender due to the impact of the Uber accident. Herzberg’s bicycle sustained damage as well.
