According to KTLA, a woman was run over by an on-duty city worker while she was lying in the sand in Newport Beach on Thursday, April 19, 2018.
The pedestrian accident was reported around 1:15 p.m., when the driver of a city-owned GMC Canyon pickup struck the woman.
According to authorities, the driver was travelling at a slow speed when the pedestrian accident occurred.
The pedestrian accident victim, described as a woman, has not been identified. She sustained injuries to her chest and pelvis. She was transported to a nearby trauma center, where she is being treated. The severity of her injuries remains unknown, however, her injuries were described as not life-threatening.
The city worker has not been identified, but was described as a male.
The pedestrian accident remains under investigation.
