According to the San Bernardino Sun, a woman was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident in Rialto on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
The fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Eucalyptus Avenue, when the 39-year-old victim, identified as Sarah Louise Gasper of Rialto, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk and was struck by the hit-and-run suspect.
The driver initially fled the scene of the pedestrian accident and was followed by a witness, who reported the crash to police.
The driver, identified as 29-year-old Jose Francisco Romero Jr., led police on a short pursuit, and was then detained.
Romero was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, while intoxicated and evading police.
Romero’s bail was set at $250,000 and was booked at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
