Woman killed after car crashes into Moreno Valley home

According to KTLA, a woman was killed after a vehicle crashed into her home in Moreno Valley on Monday, March 19, 2018.

The fatal accident was reported around 5:30 a.m. in the 16000 block of Lake Victoria Drive, when the driver of a Ford Mustang GT crashed into the home and killed 47-year-old Sophia Zapien, while she was sleeping.

According to the report, the driver slammed into the home near the entrance, where Zapien’s bedroom was. Zapien was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Mustang, only identified as a male, was not injured.

According to witnesses, the driver failed to stop while traveling down a nearby street, which resulted in him crashing into the home.

The driver of the Mustang was arrested on suspicion of reckless driving. According to authorities, alcohol or drugs were not suspected to be a factor in the fatal accident.

The wrongful death accident remains under investigation.
