SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (October 23, 2018) A San Diego construction accident injured a worker at a business by Ronson Road near Convoy Street after he fell through drywall on a roof.
Emergency medical workers rushed to the scene of the business around 8:30 a.m. Firefighters had to remove the worker’s leg which had become stuck.
The construction worker was taken to the Sharp Memorial Hospital in order to receive treatment for his injuries. It remains unclear what may have caused the worker to fall in Kearny Mesa.
Cal/OSHA are continuing their investigation in to the accident at this time.
Causes of Falls At Construction Sites
Construction sites can be particularly dangerous which is why there is such a great need for safety precautions to be taken. Generally speaking, companies that have between 1-10 workers are involved in the majority of fatal accidents. Larger companies will typically be safer perhaps because they are following safety procedures more closely. Falls from roofs account for the largest number of injuries and deaths per year. This is following by falls from ladders and then scaffolds.
Falls can leave workers with severe injuries and high medical bills. An injured worker may have multiple options for financial assistance after an accident has taken place. A premises liability attorney can evaluate the facts of your case and let you know what your rights are.
Liability In Construction Site Accidents
When a construction worker is injured in California they may have the ability to file a claim for workers compensation. A worker should notify their employer of an accident quickly after it happens. In addition to worker’s compensation their may also be third party negligence for an accident. For example, a property owner may fail to keep a work site in a safe condition and face liability if a worker gets injured. A number of accidents happen when workers aren’t supplied with the correct safety gear or when open holes are not covered up. Construction sites are usually a blend of multiple companies and contractors that have to work together to accomplish one goal.
