Sheanna Casillas San Andreas: Sheanna Casillas of Valley Springs Injured In San Andreas Hit-And-Run Car Accident On Highway 49 By Howell Road
SAN ANDREAS, CALIFONRNIA (September 19, 2019) – A 35-year-old woman identified as Sheanna Casillas was injured in a car accident with a hit-and-run driver on Highway 49 by Howell Road.
A 25-year-old driver crossed over a double yellow line forcing Sheanna Casillas to swerve to the right. The driver that crossed over the double yellow line also swerved to the right and hit the victims vehicle.
Sheanna Casillas and the negligent driver both puled to the right following the collision. But the at fault driver later fled the scene and is currently being pursued by police.
According to one officer at the scene, “The law requires whenever you are involved in a traffic collision when there is any damage received by any other party…to stop, make contact with that party and either exchange information or contact law enforcement.”
Liability In Hit-And-Run Accidents
In most situations it is illegal to cross over a double yellow line. According to California Vehicle Code 21460, “If double parallel solid yellow lines are in place, a person driving a vehicle shall not drive to the left of the lines, except as permitted in this section.” Drivers that cross over a double yellow line are likely to be found at fault in the event of an accident. Victims of car accidents tend to suffer from a number of different injuries including:
- Head injuries
- Back injuries
- Spinal cord injuries
- Organ damage
According to verywellmind, “If you’ve been in a car accident, you’re at risk for developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research shows that about 9% of the general population who are in car accidents develop PTSD. That number is significantly higher for people who have been in a car accident and seek mental health treatment, with an average of 60% diagnosed with PTSD.” Here are some of the symptoms of PTSD following an accident:
- Feelings of anxiety when remembering the accident
- Feeling more on edge while driving
- Recurring nightmares of the accident
- Avoiding situations that involve driving
Any person that is injured in a car accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. It’s important to seek medical care after an accident. Failing to get the proper medical care may jeopardize your ability to file a civil claim. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
