Safety Problems With Stretch Limousines
Limousines are often used to transport people during times of celebrations such as weddings and homecoming. But in a number of circumstances these celebrations turn into nightmares when a limousine crashes. One problem with stretch limousines is that they are built very differently from other vehicles. A limousine is often made up of numerous vehicles which have been cut in half. Generally speaking, passengers inside a stretch limousine are not protected by the support pillars that are in other cars. A person that is injured in a limousine accident may have the ability to file a personal injury claim in order to receive financial compensation.
Liability In Truck Accidents Involving Limousines
Limousines are considered “common carriers” under the law. Drivers are held to a very high standard. The company that a limousine driver works for may face vicarious liability if they are negligent and involved in a crash. In addition to driver negligence, there may be numerous other sources of potential negligence in an accident. Several weeks ago 20 people were killed in a limousine accident in New York. It turns out that the vehicle had not been maintained properly. If this is the case, the service providers that were supposed to be taking care of a vehicle may face civil liability.
Of course, it’s very possible that another vehicle may be negligent and hit a limousine. Sideswipe collisions are very common with limousines because they are so long. These often happen because a car or a truck makes a dangerous turn. A truck accident attorney can examine the specific facts of your case and let you know what your rights are.
