Both the PG&E truck and the other driver were pushed into a pole after the initial collision. Paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene of the accident.

The driver of the PG&E truck is reportedly ok. But the other driver sustained critical injuries after the crash and had to be taken to the hospital.

An investigation into the Stockton truck accident by Mokelumne Road and 8 Mile Road remains ongoing at this time.

Liability In PG&E Truck Accidents

All truck drivers have a legal responsibility to operate their vehicles in a reasonably safe manner and take steps to avoid causing accidents. According to California Vehicle Code 22350, “No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.”

What many drivers do not realize is that operating a motor vehicle at the speed limit can actually be dangerous. Drivers should slow down when there is reduced visibility or inclement weather. One of the things that makes large trucks particularly dangerous is their blind spots.

Truck drivers do not always check their blind spots at intersections when they are making left turns. When there is an accident involving a commercial truck it’s important that evidence is properly preserved. A number of trucks are equipped with event data recorders (EDRs) which can help show what a truck driver was doing right before an accident.

If a truck driver was negligent and caused an accident they or the company that they work for could be held liable. Commercial trucks are typically required to carry at least $750,000 worth of liability insurance in the event of an accident. Victims may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help with medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. A truck accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
