Liability In Car Accidents Involving Trucks
Drivers have a responsibility to operate their vehicles in a reasonably safe manner and obey the rules of the road. Failure to obey traffic laws which causes injury or death will impose liability on the negligent driver. Unsafe lane changes typically occur with drivers that are either distracted or speeding. But liability can often be a bit more complicated when multiple vehicles are involved. For example, a truck driver could be held liable if it hit a vehicle that was involved in a previous accident.
Truck drivers and others that operate commercial vehicles are held to a very high standard when it comes to safety. Drivers are required to undergo training and periodic medical exams in order to make sure they are fit to drive. If a truck driver fails to stop in time and hits a stalled car or a vehicle that has moved into their lane the company that employed them could potentially face liability. It’s always a good idea to seek the legal counsel of an experienced truck accident attorney. Don’t just assume that a truck driver bears no liability for your accident.
