ADELANTO, CALIFORNIA (January 13, 2018) – A 35-year-old man from Helendale identified as Mark Snow died after he was hit head-on by the driver of a Cadillac Xt5 SUV.
The crash was first reported around 10:35 p.m. on Friday not far from Shadow Mountain Road on U.S. Highway 395. For reasons that remain under investigation, the Cadillac crossed the double yellow line and hit the Toyota being driven by Mark Snow.
Debris was scattered all across the U.S. 395 highway as police and investigators worked to clean up the area. The driver of the Cadillac also died as a result of the accident.
Causes of Head-On Accidents
Head-on crashes can leave victims with devastating injuries and often result in death. Statistically, head-on crashes tend to happen due to impaired driving, fatigue or distractions. When a driver is negligent and causes an accident they may face civil liability for the crash. Even if a driver does not have insurance, a victim may still have a viable means of recovering damages.
Generally speaking, the family of a victim that died is able to recover damages through a wrongful death claim. If, for example, the negligent driver was working at the time of an accident, it may also be possible to pursue a claim against their employer. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the specific facts about your case and let you know what your rights are.
