The pickup truck slammed into the center divider after the collision. Paramedics rushed to the scene in order to help the victim.

Maria Rosaha De Castro Mariano was transported to the Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center in order to receive treatment. An investigation into the Vacaville motorcycle accident remains ongoing at this time.

Liability In Motorcycle Accidents

According to the NHTSA, “There were an estimated 88,000 motorcyclists injured during 2013, a 5-percent decrease from 93,000 motorcyclist injured in 2012. In 2013, two-wheeled motorcycles accounted for 93 percent of all motorcycles in fatal crashes.” Motorcycle accidents tend to happen because other drivers fail to see oncoming motorcyclists due to their small profile. Victims of motorcycle accidents are much more likely to suffer from serious injuries including:

  • Broken bones
  • Back injuries
  • Head trauma
  • Organ damage

Many of the injuries from a serious motorcycle accident are not visible to the naked eye. According to Very Well Mind, “If you’ve been in a car accident, you’re at risk for developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Research shows that about 9% of the general population who are in car accidents develop PTSD. That number is significantly higher for people who have been in a car accident and seek mental health treatment, with an average of 60% diagnosed with PTSD.” It’s very important to continue to seek follow up care after an accident.

Any person that is injured in a motorcycle accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A motorcycle accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are. There are, however, statute of limitations associated with being able to file a civil claim so it’s important to act quickly.
