Liability In Off Road Races
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of accidents that a person can be involved in. They account for only around 2% of all accidents but 11% of all traffic fatalities. Victims of head-on collisions often suffer from a wide variety of injuries including:
- Head injuries
- Broken bones
- Organ damage
- Post traumatic stress disorder
- Burn injuries
There are multiple entities that could potentially face liability in the event of an accident at an off-road race. Any individual driver could be held liable. Drivers are supposed to stay clear of the race track. The only people that should be on a race track are the competitors and authorized personnel.
In addition to any drivers that enter a course and cause an accident, a race sponsor or coordinator could be held liable in the event that a rider is injured. This is typically why Motorports Event coordinators purchase liability insurance. A race sponsor could be liable for an accident if they failed to take measures to prevent unauthorized vehicles from entering the race.
Any person that is injured in an off-road race at the RECORD Ensenada to San Quintin 250 or similar event may be able to recover damages through a personal injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are. It doesn’t cost anything to hire an attorney and they only get paid if they are able to successfully resolve your case.
