Liability In Head-On Accidents
Head-On collisions are frequently referred to as ‘the most dangerous type of car accident.’ The impact of two vehicle colliding head on is equal to the combined velocity of both vehicles. A head-on collision between two vehicles going 30 mph is equivalent to one vehicle hitting a brick wall at 60 mph. Despite the fact that head-on collisions make up only around 2% of all crashes they account for over 10% of all traffic fatalities. Victims of head-on collisions will typically suffer from a wide variety of different injuries including:
- Broken bones
- Spinal cord injuries
- Head injuries
- Whiplash injuries
- Internal trauma
Head-on collisions tend to occur when drivers violate traffic laws. According to California Vehicle Code 21460, “If double parallel solid yellow lines are in place, a person driving a vehicle shall not drive to the left of the lines, except as permitted in this section.” Any person that is injured in a car accident may be able to recover damages through a bodily injury claim. This can include money for lost wages, medical bills, and pain and suffering. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
