Liability In Diesel Truck Accidents
Drivers have a responsibility to operate their vehicles in a reasonably safe manner and to take steps to avoid accidents. It has been estimated that nearly 50% of fatal car accidents are due to speeding or intoxicated drivers. But road design also plays a crucial role in the likelihood of an accident. Cities have a responsibility to design and maintain roads that are reasonably safe.
In many circumstances, rural areas will increase in population thereby leading to more traffic. Roads that weren’t initially designed to handle all of the traffic can become hazardous. Roads that have a history of accidents may need additional safety measures, like a four way stop or a street light. When a city fails to maintain its roads in a reasonably safe manner they may face civil liability for any accidents that occur due to that failure. A car accident attorney can examine the specific facts of your case and let you know what your rights are.
