Garden Grove Bus Accident On 22 Freeway By Harbour Boulevard Injured One Person
GARDEN GROVE, CALIFORNIA (September 9, 2019) – At least one person was injured in a Greyhound bus accident on the 22 Freeway not far from the Harbour Boulevard off-ramp.
California Highway Patrol are saying that the bus accident took place around 7:38 a.m. For reasons that remain under investigation, the Greyhound bus collided with a pickup in the number 3 lane on the freeway.
Paramedics were called and had to treat at least one person for their injuries. An investigation into the cause of the bus accident remains ongoing at this time.
Liability In Bus Accidents
Bus companies are considered “common carriers” under the law and are therefore held to a very high standard in terms of safety. According to Acosta v. Southern California Rapid Transit Dist., “Common carriers bind themselves to carry safely those whom they take into their vehicles, and owe both a duty of utmost care and the vigilance of a very cautious person towards their passengers. Such carriers are responsible for any, even the slightest, negligence and are required to do all that human care, vigilance, and foresight reasonably can do under all the circumstances.”
Buses tend to have very large blind spots and are not always aware of vehicles to their right or left. If a bus driver was negligent and caused an accident they or the company that they work for may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help with lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A bus accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
