The Ford Van collided head-on with the 2008 Peterbuilt semi-truck driven by David Jones. Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help all of the victims.
David Jones sustained injuries and was taken to Sutter Lakeside Hospital. Neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to be factors in the crash.

Liability In Car Accidents
Head-on collisions are among the most rare type of accidents accounting for only 2% of all collisions. However, head-on collisions account for over 11% of all traffic fatalities. Head-on collisions tend to occur for a wide variety of reasons including:
- Driver fatigue
- Driver intoxication
- Brake problems
It is illegal to cross over a pair of double yellow lines. According to California Vehicle Code 21460, “If double parallel solid yellow lines are in place, a person driving a vehicle shall not drive to the left of the lines, except as permitted in this section.” If a driver is working at the time of an accident they may be able to receive support through the worker’s compensation system.
According to the California Department of Industrial Relations Workers Compensation Guidebook, “If you get hurt on the job, your employer is required by law to pay for workers’ compensation benefits.” Damages in a worker’s compensation claim can help cover:
- Lost wages
- Medical bills
- Disability benefits
- Permanent disability benefits
If an entity separate from a worker’s employer was responsible for an accident the injured worker may be able to recover additional damages through a bodily injury claim. If the at fault was working at the time of the accident they company that they were working for may face civil liability as well. Companies are generally responsible for the negligent conduct of their employees – insofar as those employees were working withing the course and scope of their job duties.
