Rodney Allen Twentynine Palms: Corporal Rodney Allen Injured In Motorcycle Accident on the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Base By Two Mile Road and Lear Avenue

TWENTYNINE PALMS, CALIFORNIA (August 27, 2019) – Corporal Rodney Allen of the Combat Logistics Battalion-7 on the Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Base was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident near Two Mile Road and Lear Avenue.

California Highway Patrol are saying that the car accident took place around 2:15 p.m. Rodney Allen was driving his motorcycle and was struck by a 1996 Jeep that was making a left turn onto Two Mile Road.

Corporal Rodney Allen was thrown off of his Kawasaki motorcycle and sustained major injuries. Paramedics rushed to the scene of the accident and transported the victim to the hospital.

An investigation into the Twentynine Palms motorcycle accident remains ongoing at this time. However, it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.

Liability In Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcyclists are much more likely to be overlooked and seriously injured in an accident compared with passenger vehicles. According to one report from the NHTSA, “In 2016, there were almost 28 times more motorcycle fatalities than passenger vehicle fatalities per mile traveled.” Victims of motorcycle accidents often suffer from a wide variety of injuries including:

  • Broken bones
  • Head injuries
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Burn injuries
  • Road rash
  • Post traumatic stress disorder

Drivers are supposed to yield the right of way to vehicles close enough to pose a hazard before making a left turn. According to California Vehicle Code 21801, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left or to complete a U-turn upon a highway, or to turn left into public or private property, or an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching from the opposite direction which are close enough to constitute a hazard at any time during the turning movement.” Drivers that make left turns and hit motorcyclists are likely to be found at fault.

Any person that is injured in a motorcycle accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. It’s important to seek medical treatment after an accident. Failing to seek medical treatment and all the required follow up may jeopardize your ability to pursue a claim down the line. A motorcycle accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
