Chelsea Ochoa Redwood City: Chelsea Ochoa, Angelo Clavel and Timothy Chua Injured In Redwood City Car Accident On Highway 101 By Marsh Road

REDWOOD CITY, CALIFORNIA (August 20, 2019) – Multiple people including Chelsea Ochoa, Angelo Clavel and Timothy Chua were injured in a car accident on Highway 101 by Marsh Road.

California Highway Patrol are saying that the accident took place around 2:00 a.m. For reasons that remain under investigation, a man driving a Honda lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a water filled traffic barrier.

That Honda was carrying passengers Chelsea Ochoa and Angelo Clavel. A man driving a 2018 BMW was unable to slow down in time and ran into the Honda.

Shortly after that accident Timothy Chua was able to slow down in time to avoid both vehicles. However, a Jeep being driven by an 18-year-old rear-ended the vehicles carrying Chelsea Ochoa, Angelo Clavel and Timothy Chua.

Shortly after that accident another took place when Miguel Torres was rear-ended by another Jeep. Paramedics rushed to the scene in order to help the victims. Chelsea Ochoa and Angelo Clavel both sustained head injuries and were taken to the hospital.

An investigation into the Redwood City car accidents remains ongoing.

Liability In Car Accidents

All drivers are supposed to operate their vehicles in a reasonably safe manner and take steps to avoid causing accidents. According to California Vehicle Code 22350, “No person shall drive a vehicle upon a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable or prudent having due regard for weather, visibility, the traffic on, and the surface and width of, the highway, and in no event at a speed which endangers the safety of persons or property.”

Even if a vehicle is stopped in the middle of the road due to a prior accident that is no excuse for hitting them. A good driver should scan the road ahead and take evasive maneuvers in order to avoid causing accidents. This is why it is so important for drivers to maintain a safe following distance with vehicles ahead of them. It has been estimated that nearly 94% of all car accidents are caused by human error. Here are some of the most common causes of car accidents:

  • Intoxicated driving
  • Speeding
  • Distracted driving
  • Fatigued driving

Victims of car accidents far too often suffer very serious injuries and high medical bills. It has been estimated that the costs to treat even a moderate brain injury can reach as high as $1,000,000. This can be a crushing burden to both individuals as well as families. Many of the injuries associated with car accidents are not always physical. A high number of accident victims that suffered serious injuries will also develop post traumatic stress disorder.

Victims of car accidents may be able to recover damages through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim may include money for lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. It is very important to seek medical treatment after an accident. Failing to seek treatment may jeopardize your ability  to recover damages down the line. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
