Liability In Huntington Beach Electrical Explosions
According to ESFi, “Home electrical fires account for an estimated 51,000 fires each year, nearly than 500 deaths, more than 1,400 injuries, and $1.3 billion in property damage. There are a number of entities that could be held legally responsible for an electrical vault explosion. Electrical companies like PG&E have a legal responsibility to maintain their premises in a reasonably safe manner. According to California Civil Code 1714, “Everyone is responsible, not only for the result of his or her willful acts, but also for an injury occasioned to another by his or her want of ordinary care or skill in the management of his or her property or person, except so far as the latter has, willfully or by want of ordinary care, brought the injury upon himself or herself.” According to the electrical engineering portal, there are a number of causes of electrical explosions including:

- Obstructed disconnect panels
- Water or liquid near electrical equipment
- High voltage cables
- Static electricity
- Damaged tools and equipment
Victims are often left with very high medical bills. According to NCBI, “The costs of each one per cent burned of TBSA were respectively $US 368, 512, and 284 (per day) for flame, electrical, and scald burns.” It’s important that evidence is preserved after an accident. A forensic examination of a fire source can reveal a great deal about what may have caused an electrical malfunction/fire. Victims of electrical fires may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages can help with lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A premises liability attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
