Man Critically Injured In Union City Gas Explosion Accident At Home On Elizabeth Way
UNION CITY, CALIFORNIA (June 20, 2019) – A man was seriously injured in a gas explosion accident at his home on 32436 Elizabeth Way.
Union City police are saying that there was a major gas explosion at the home that left 4 people with minor injuries and one person with major injuries.
Firefighters discovered three half gallon containers of refrigerant that may have been involved in the blast. The bomb squad was called, but authorities believe the explosion was accidental.
Several of the gas containers were taken away. The man who was critically injured is fighting for his life in the hospital.
Liability In Gas Explosion Accidents
There are numerous sources of potential liability for any gas explosion accident. An explosion needs an ignition source and fuel of some type. An ignition source could come from faulty wiring in a home. If that is the case, the company that installed the wiring could face civil liability. A company that designs propane or gas tanks could also face liability if that tank was poorly designed. A faulty valve mechanism could contribute to a leak and cause an accident.
Any person that is injured in a gas explosion accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a personal injury claim may include money for lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A personal injury attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are. There are, however, statute of limitations in order to resolve a claim so it’s important to be proactive.
