According to ABC 7, Two drivers were killed in a car vs. truck accident that occurred on Sunday, September 2 on the 60 Freeway in South El Monte, California.
At around 4:30 a.m. near the Peck Rd. exit, a truck accident involving a semi-truck carrying cantaloupes and a BMW left both drivers dead at the scene of the truck accident. Investigation by California Highway Patrol indicates that the semi-truck failed to slow down and rear-ended the BMW, causing the truck to plunge off the side of the freeway onto the street below.
Upon impact, both the truck and car burst into flames. The bodies of the victims were burned to the point that first responders could not determine their gender.
