Liability In Car Accidents
According to the NHTSA, around 35,000 people are killed every year in car accidents. The vast majority of accidents are caused by human error. Even in the event of a single vehicle crash there may be liability beyond driver error. For example, a number of single vehicle accidents take place due to tire blowouts or unprotected embankments. Ideally, non-recoverable sloping embankments should be protected by guardrails.
The family of a person that died in a car accident may be able to recover damages through a wrongful death claim. Damages in a wrongful death claim may include loss of income, loss of love, loss of companionship and emotional distress. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
