Toddler killed, father injured in Arleta pedestrian accident

According to KTLA, a 3-year-old boy died and his father was seriously injured in a pedestrian accident on Friday, January 26, 2018 in Arleta.

According to authorities, the fatal pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Chase Street and Varna Avenue, when a woman driving a Ford Expedition struck the toddler and his father at the intersection of a crosswalk.

The female driver, who has not been identified, had two young boys in the vehicle with her at the time of the pedestrian accident. According to the report, the driver either failed to completely stop or ran through the stop sign, which resulted in hitting the father and son.

The toddler was in grave condition when he was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

His father sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and rendered aid to the pedestrian accident victims.
