Ping Lu Sunnyvale: 42-Year-Old Ping Lu was Seriously Injured In Car Accident After Army Veteran With PTSD Drove Onto Sidewalk
SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA (April 26, 2019) – A 41-year-old Sunnyvale resident identified as Ping Lu was seriously injured after a retired army veteran drove onto a sidewalk and hit 8 pedestrians.
Prosecutors are still trying to determine if the army veteran did this intentionally or if it was an accident. Numerous people were injured in the car accident including Maria Reimler, Soren Reimler, Ping Lu, Rajesh Narayan, Dhriti and Eric Nava.
Shantain Vargas was one of the witnesses that saw the accident. The scene afterwards was chaotic with the suspect allegedly shouting ‘thank you, Jesus … thank you, Jesus.’
The suspect’s mother told authorities that her son served in the Army and that he was undergoing treatment for PTSD. She said that he was a wonderful son and had been hospitalized in 2015 after a particularly bad episode of PTSD.
An investigation into the accident that injured Maria Reimler, Soren Reimler, Ping Lu, Rajesh Narayan and Eric Nava remains ongoing at this time.
