Liability In Car Accidents With Drunk Drivers
Drivers that cause great bodily injury or death to pedestrians while under the influence of alcohol will typically be charged with a felony. Drivers may also face civil liability for any accident. Moreover, if a driver was working when they caused an accident their employer may face liability as well. Vicarious liability is a key concept in personal injury law.
Employers are typically responsible for the actions of their employees that are working within the course and scope of their employment. A country club could be liable as well for a car accident under the theory of negligent entrustment. A number of country clubs have valet services for drivers. If a valet gives a driver their keys back when that person is visibly intoxicated they could be held liable for any accident that occurs. It’s important to seek the guidance of an experienced car accident attorney after a DUI accident. An attorney can help you receive damages following a collision.
