Denielle Lebarre Stockton: John Lebarre, Denielle Lebarre Died In Stockton Houseboat Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Accident Near The Ski Beach In San Joaquin Delta

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (July 10, 2019) – A father and daughter identified as John Lebarre and Denielle Lebarre tragically died in a carbon monoxide poisoning accident while on their houseboat over the weekend.

Stockton police are saying that both John Lebarre and Denielle Lebarre were found deceased on the houseboat on Friday around 4:00 a.m. Stockton police are saying that the boat was anchored by the Ski Beach in the San Joqquin Delta.

The victims were found unresponsive by John Lebarre’s fiancé. Emergency workers rushed to the scene and their CO detectors indicated high levels of carbon monoxide in the air.

An autopsy for John Lebarre and Denielle Lebarre remains pending at this time.

Liability In Houseboat Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Accidents

According to the Illinois Poison Center, “Carbon monoxide (CO) is a poisonous gas.  You cannot see, taste or smell carbon monoxide.  It is released when fuels such as wood, oil or gasoline, are not burned completely.” Here are just a few of the common sources of carbon monoxide on a boat:

  • Boat engine
  • Oil, wood or gas furnaces
  • Gas stoves or dryers
  • Gas space heaters
  • Gas or oil water heaters
  • Candles and gas lanterns

Carbon monoxide leaks may occur if the boat malfunctioned. If this is the case, the manufacturer of the boat could potentially be held liable through a civil claim. Companies have a legal responsibility to make sure that their products are reasonably safe and not likely to injure customers.

A victim’s next of kin may be able to seek justice through a civil claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, funeral expenses and emotional trauma. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are. There are, however, statute of limitations associated with being able to pursue a claim, so it’s important to act quickly.
