Pedestrian Injured In Smith River Car Accident On Highway 101 By Indian Road

SMITH RIVER, CALIFORNIA (October 11, 2019) –  A pedestrian was seriously injured in a car accident on Highway 101 by Indian Road. 

California Highway Patrol are saying that the accident took place around 7:36 p.m. For reasons that remain under investigation a Jeep Grand Cherokee hit a pedestrian. 

Paramedics were called to the scene in order to help the victim. They were taken to the hospital with major injuries.

All drivers must use caution in order to avoid hitting pedestrians even when they are outside of lawfully marked crosswalks. According to California Vehicle Code 21950, “The driver of a vehicle approaching a pedestrian within any marked or unmarked crosswalk shall exercise all due care and shall reduce the speed of the vehicle or take any other action relating to the operation of the vehicle as necessary to safeguard the safety of the pedestrian.” Victims of pedestrian accidents may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim.
