Liability In Pedestrian Accidents
It has been estimated that nearly 5,000 pedestrians are killed every year in car accidents. Most of these accidents happen in the early morning hours and after 6:00 p.m. Most intersections have cameras which police can use to help determine liability. If a crossing guard is killed while working their family will usually have the ability to file a workers compensation claim. A third party negligence claim against the at fault driver may be possible as well.
Victims or their families will have the ability to seek damages for lost wages, pain and suffering as well as medical bills. It’s important to seek the guidance of a car accident attorney if you’ve been injured. An attorney can evaluate the specific facts of your case and let you know if you have a claim that can be pursued. There are statute of limitations associated with being able to file a claim, so it’s important to act quickly.
