According to ABC 7, a violent Santa Fe Springs car accident killed a 12-year-old boy and his father was arrested on suspected of DUI on Monday, December 11, 2017. The fatal car accident occurred around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Slauson Avenue and Dice Road. According to authorities, the car accident happened when the father in a Ford Explorer made a left turn onto Dice Road and was struck by another vehicle that had the right-of-way.
Due to the impact, the son was ejected from the Explorer. It is unknown if the child was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the car accident. Witnesses attempted to help the boy until paramedics arrived. He was transferred to a local hospital, where he eventually died. The father, identified as Jesus Tamayo, 45, of Bell Gardens was taken into custody. He is expected to face charges that include manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance, and child endangerment. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. The fatal car accident remains under investigation.
