At Least One Person Was Injured In A Truck Accident on Clairemont Drive
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (January 16, 2019) – At least one person was injured in an accident when the driver of an SUV ran into a truck that was making a U-turn.
San Diego police officials are saying that the accident took place around 12:40 p.m. The driver of the SUV was pinned underneath the truck and was later taken to the hospital.
Authorities are asking anyone that may have seen the accident to come forward and speak with them.
Liability In U-turn Accidents
Drivers that are making U-turns or left turns are typically held at fault for an accident, unless they were doing so on a green arrow. According to the California Vehicle Code 21801, “The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left or to complete a U-turn upon a highway, or to turn left into public or private property, or an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles approaching from the opposite direction which are close enough to constitute a hazard at any time during the turning movement, and shall continue to yield the right-of-way to the approaching vehicles until the left turn or U-turn can be made with reasonable safety.” Victim’s of U-turn accidents are able to recover damages by filing a claim against the negligent driver.
