Liability In Truck Accidents
Truck drivers have a legal responsibility to operate their vehicles cautiously. A number of accidents take place when truck drivers make dangerous lane changes. According to California Vehicle Code 22107, “No person shall turn a vehicle from a direct course or move right or left upon a roadway until such movement can be made with reasonable safety and then only after the giving of an appropriate signal in the manner provided in this chapter in the event any other vehicle may be affected by the movement.”
Any person that is injured in a truck accident may be able to recover damages through a bodily injury claim. Damages may include money for lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. The lifetime medical costs associated with treating a serious truck accident can easily exceed $500,000. This is why most commercial trucks have insurance policies of $1,000,000 or higher. A truck accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
