Liability In Scooter Accidents
Drivers have a legal responsibility to operate their vehicles in a reasonably safe manner. According to California Vehicle Code 21950, “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.” But negligence for an accident may not always rest solely with the driver.
A city may be responsible for an accident if it was caused by a dangerous condition on public property. Any person that is injured in a scooter accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help with medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. A car accident attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
