There were a total of four people in the home at the time of the accident. But none of them were injured. Melvyn Caffey was from Orange County and there is no information at this time about what led to the crash.
The FAA is continuing their investigation at this time.
Liability In Plane Crashes
Most of the plane crashes that take place every year occur in private aviation. Private aviation encompasses all of the smaller aircraft that typically have one pilot and a few passengers. In short, smaller planes tend to lack a lot of the safety redundancies that larger aircraft have. Here are just a few of the common reasons why a smaller aircraft might crash:
- Running out of fuel
- Engine failure
- Inclement weather
- Pilot error
Engine failures are actually much more common that many people realize. They can often force a plane to go into a nosedive. If an engine failure contributed to a plane crash the manufacturer of the plane could potentially face civil liability. The victim’s next of kin may be able to seek damages through California’s Code of Civil Procedure 377.60. A wrongful death attorney can investigate a plane crash free of cost and get you answers about what went wrong.
