Liability In Post Office Truck Accidents
Post Office truck drivers are supposed to exercise a high degree of caution in order to prevent accidents. USPS trucks are common carriers. A common carrier is any company that transports goods or people in return for money. According to Judicial Council of California Civil Jury Instructions, “While a common carrier does not guarantee the safety of its passengers[or property that it transports], it must use reasonable skill to provide everything necessary for safe transportation, in view of the transportation used and the practical operation of the business.”
A number of accidents occur when truck drivers make dangerous left turns. If a truck driver is deemed to be at fault for an accident, the city that they work for may face vicarious liability. Companies are generally responsible for the conduct of their employees when those employees are working within the course and scope of their employment. A truck accident attorney can help you receive compensation if you’ve been involved in an accident.
