Bradley Carlson Florida: 36-Year-Old Man From Redondo Beach and Jennifer Young Injured In Car Accident With Intoxicated Driver Before Being Hit With Semi-Truck
POLK COUNTY, FLORIDA (December 24, 2018) – A 36-year-old man identified as Bradley Carlson and his passenger Jennifer Young were seriously injured when he was hit head-on by an intoxicated driver before colliding with a semi-truck.
Florida Highway Patrol are saying that the collision began when a man driving an Acura hit a median highway cable barrier. Following that the Acura hit a Lincoln Town Car and then a Chrysler driven by Bradley Carlson.
After Bradley Carlson’s car was hit by the Lincoln Town Car it was pushed into the path of a tractor-trailer. The semi-truck continued to the center median before overturning.
Florida Highway Patrol are saying that they believe the car accident was alcohol related. Jennifer Young sustained serious injuries as well in the crash.
Lucy Carlson was able to survive the crash with only moderate injuries. An investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time.
Liability In Truck Accidents
Drunk drivers are believed to be responsible for nearly a quarter of all accidents. Oddly enough, an intoxicated driver is often more likely to survive a fatal accident than their victim. It is a felony to cause great bodily injury while under the influence of alcohol. Liability is not necessarily always straightforward when multiple vehicles are involved.
If a truck-driver hits a vehicle that was involved in a previous accident they may bear liability for what happened. Most trucks come equipped with Event Data Recorders (EDRs) that give information about what a truck driver was doing immediately prior to a crash. A truck’s speed is recorded along with whether or not they applied to brakes. Truck drivers are supposed to maintain a safe speed with the vehicle in front of them.
Victims of truck accidents have the ability to file a claim for damages including medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. A truck accident attorney can evaluate your case free of charge and let you know if you have a claim that can be pursued. There are statute of limitations associated with being able to file a claim, so it’s important to act quickly.
