OCEANSIDE, CALIFORNIA (October 14, 2019) – A woman was seriously injured in a car accident after being hit by an out-of-control vehicle on State Route 76 by Interstate 5.
California Highway Patrol are saying that the pedestrian accident took place around 2:30 a.m. by the transition ramp. The woman was returning to her car when she was struck by a vehicle.
Paramedics were rushed to the scene in order to help the victim. She was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been factors in the crash.
Liability In Pedestrian Accidents
According to the Center’s For Disease Control, “almost 129,000 pedestrians were treated in emergency departments for non-fatal crash-related injuries in 2015. Pedestrians are 1.5 times more likely than passenger vehicle occupants to be killed in a car crash on each trip.”
A number of pedestrian accidents take place because drivers are either speeding or distracted. Any person that is injured in a pedestrian accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Damages in a civil claim can help cover lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering.
