Oceanside Plane Crash: Fatal Plane Crash Injured Passenger In San Diego Tuesday Night By State Route 76 and Canyon Drive
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA (January 31, 2019) – A 58-year-old pilot from Yorba Linda has tragically died and his passenger was injured when their plan crashed in a hilly area.
The Oceanside plane crash took place around 10 hours before 7:15 a.m. Authorities are saying that the pilot was pronounced dead and that the passenger had waited over 10 hours to be rescued.
The survivor was transported to the Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla in order to be treated for severe injuries. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are continuing their investigation at this time.
Liability In Plane Crashes
For the most part, commercial air travel is extremely safe. There are very few deaths every year in commercial aviation. The vast majority of plane crashes occur in private aviation with small planes. These planes tend to lack safety features and redundancies that make other commercial aircraft so safe. For example, most small aircraft lack dual engines that could keep the plane in the air in case of engine failure.
Most accidents happen during takeoff or landing. During that time, pilot error accounts for the majority of crashes. But pilot error is not the only source of potential negligence in plane crashes. A number of accidents occur when there is a malfunction with the engine or some other crucial component. An aviation accident attorney can investigate your case free of charge and let you know what your rights are.
