Anthony Rippee Oakland: 58-Year-Old Homeless Man Identified As Anthony Rippee Tragically Died After Being Hit By Falling Tree Branch Near Interstate 580
OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (January 18, 2019) – A 42-year-old man from Oakland identified as Anthony Rippee has tragically died after he was hit by a falling tree branch along Interstate 580.
Friends of Anthony Rippee came to bring him food when they noticed that a tree branch had fallen on him. Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the the scene of the homeless encampment in order to help him.
Despite lifesaving efforts he later died due to his injuries. The Mayor of Oakland expressed frustration that more has not been done to find sustainable housing conditions for the homeless in the city.
An investigation into the fatal accident remains ongoing at this point.
