Worker Killed In North Hollywood Accident After Falling From Truck Near Tujunga Avenue and Oxnard Street
NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA (June 8, 2019) – A worker was tragically killed in an accident in North Hollywood after he fell out of a truck near the intersection of Tujunga Avenue and Oxnard Street.
Los Angeles firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene of the accident in order to help the victim. Despite life-saving medical efforts, the unidentified maintenance worker was pronounced dead at the scene.
There is an ongoing investigation into what may have caused the accident. Cal/OSHA are asking any witnesses to come forward at this time.
Liability In Workplace Accidents
California workers are protected through the state’s worker’s compensation system. According to the California Department of Industrial Relations Workers Compensation Guidebook, “If you get hurt on the job, your employer is required by law to pay for workers’ compensation benefits.” This includes death benefits to the family of any worker that was killed in an accident.
But what a number of people don’t realize is that the worker’s compensation system may not be their only recourse. For example, a third party liability claim may be possible if an entity separate from a worker’s employer was responsible for an accident. A wrongful death attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
