Horses provide joy and comfort to hundreds of millions of people all over the world. But riding a horse can also be very dangerous. If a rider is injured in a horse accident on private property the land owner may potentially face civil liability for the accident. Generally speaking, property owners are responsible for keeping their land in a reasonably safe state. This includes removing active hazards that may cause a horse to fall. A divot or debris on the ground may cause a horse to trip and fall. Riders are often seriously injured in these sorts of accidents.
