Liability In DUI Accidents
Thousands of people are seriously injured in car accidents every year after drivers go through storefronts. These types of accidents typically involved elderly drivers that experience “pedal confusion” or intoxicated drivers. It is illegal to operate a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. According to California Vehicle Code 23152, “(a) It is unlawful for a person who is under the influence of any alcoholic beverage to drive a vehicle. (b) It is unlawful for a person who has 0.08 percent or more, by weight, of alcohol in his or her blood to drive a vehicle.”
Driving under the influence and causing an accident that results in injury is a felony. Any person that is injured may be able to seek legal recourse through a bodily injury claim. Many of the injuries associated with car accidents are not immediately obvious. The full extend of a person’s injuries may only become known weeks or months after a collision. A car accident lawyer can investigate your case free of charge and help you get medical and financial support for your injuries.
