Woman Killed In Newark Car Accident On Thorton Avenue By Peachtree Avenue
NEWARK, CALIFORNIA (October 30, 2019) – A woman was tragically killed in a car accident near the intersection of Thorton Avenue and Peachtree Avenue.
California Highway Patrol are saying that the accident took place around 7:15 p.m. A pedestrian entered an intersection and was hit by a vehicle.
The pedestrian was knocked to the ground and sustained major injuries. Paramedics were called to the scene to help the victim.
Despite life-saving measures she later died at the scene.

Drivers are supposed to yield the right of was to pedestrian in lawfully marked crosswalks. According to California Vehicle Code 21950, “The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except as otherwise provided in this chapter.” Pedestrian accidents tend to happen when drivers are distracted, speeding or intoxicated.
