Sarah Davi Magalia: Woman Identified As Sarah Davi Injured In Dog Attack At Her House On Rosewood Drive
MAGALIA, CALIFORNIA (March 17, 2019) – One woman identified as Sarah Davi was injured in a dog attack at her home on Rosewood Drive.
A total of nine dogs were able to get loose from their owner’s property. The victim suffered bite wounds on her butt, back, legs and neck. Toni Davi and his wife did not realize that another woman had been mauled before they came outside.
Sarah Davi was pinned down by one of the dogs as another mauled her back. Neighbors are describing the dogs as Labrador pit-bull mixes.
The owner of the dogs was in court at the time of the attack. He is dealing with 13 infractions and misdemeanors all relating to his dogs. The woman who was supposed to be watching the dogs became their first victim.
She sustained major injuries and had to undergo surgery. The owner of the dogs has not been placed under arrest. An investigation into the dog attack remains ongoing at this time.
Liability In Dog Attacks
Around 5,000,000 people are attacked by dogs every year. Those are only the numbers of reported cases. Many attacks go unaccounted for. California holds dog owners strictly liable if their animal attacks anyone. It doesn’t matter if the dog was known to be vicious. According to the California Civil Code 3342, “The owner of any dog is liable for the damages suffered by any person who is bitten by the dog while in a public place or lawfully in a private place, including the property of the owner of the dog, regardless of the former viciousness of the dog or the owner’s knowledge of such viciousness.”
If a dog escapes an owners property and attacks someone, the owner will almost certainly be liable for any victim’s injuries. Dog attacks can leave victim’s with serious injuries and high medical bills. The costs for surgeries and skin grafts alone can easily reach tens of thousands of dollars. Victim’s will be able to recover damages by filing a claim against the negligent dog owner’s homeowner’s insurance. A dog bite injury attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your options are.
