Lost Angeles Electrical Accident Leaves Man Seriously Injured
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (January 30, 2019) – Investigators are trying to figure out how a man caught fire and died after he was electrocuted by an electrical box in a Westlake neighborhood.
Los Angeles police officials are saying that the accident took place around 4:00 a.m. by the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and South Rampart Boulevard. Firefighters rushed to the scene of the accident, but the victim had already died from his injuries.
The victim may have been trying to access the electrical box before being electrocuted. Power in the area was cut as the investigation continued.
Liability In Electrical Accidents
It has been estimated that nearly 400 people are electrocuted every year in the United States. OSHA has stated that electrocution accidents are the fourth leading cause of death in workplaces. There are a number of safety measures that should be put in place to help prevent electrical accidents. First and foremost, workers should receive adequate training about how to deal with electrical circuits.
When a worker is killed on the job, their family may be able to receive worker’s compensation benefits. The family of a deceased worker may also have the ability to file a third party liability claim. A wrongful death attorney can examine the facts of your case and let you know what your options are. There are statute of limitations associated with being able to file a claim, so it’s important to act quickly.
